Our Top Five Travel Tips to Rocking your Last Minute Vacay!

We've all been there, endlessly scrolling through last minute vacation deals, lusting over your next get-away. And then, on a hungover Sunday you gather all your girls on the group WhatsApp and finally manage to convince them to throw caution to wind and book the next flight to the hottest destination you can find. But these un-planned trips can leave you a little flustered when it comes to making the most out of your holiday. Forget frantically searching Google, here's our Five Top Tips to help you rock your spur of the moment get-away:
1. Get chatting to the locals.
Okay, so Google is a girls best friend, but so is your local bartender. There's no-one better suited to inform you of all the hidden gems the city you're vacationing in holds than the guy who graces them at 2am in the morning after a long shift gaining inside info' on the coolest spots from locals and visiting tourists. From bars hidden in the back of barber shops to basement raves and tranquil beaches, get chatting to your waiter or bartender and ask them where they regularly eat and drink.
2. Experience the culture
This may be an obvious one, but when you're sitting around the pool with a mojito in hand it can be easy to waste away the day, and your vacation. European cities are bursting with music festivals, food fairs and art exhibitions to name a few. The only way you're going to experience the culture of the place you're staying is to drag yourself away from the mini bar and throw yourself into the midst of it, carnival style.
3. Try something new
Vacations are all about making memories, and the more 'firsts' you can rack up on your trip, the better. From tasting snails in Paris to taking a beach yoga class in Bali, the more new things you try, the more likely you'll be to remember those memories in years to come.
4. Pack light
Last minute vacations are stressful enough, you don't need the added pressure at the check-in desk when the stewardess tries charging you an extra $100 because you've packed six pairs of shoes for your three-day city break. Think logical, pack your itsiest-bitsiest bikini (try this one on for size!) and don't forget your suncream- Factor 50 thick. *Top tip!* Instead of taking multiple plug adaptors, just pack one and also an extension lead; that way you can charge your phone, use your curlers and give your speaker a boost without fighting with your roomie over plug space.
5. Ditch Social Media
On the flight over you've invested in a Lightroom preset, you've planned all your posts on Planoly and you've downloaded the perfect InstaStory templates to make your feed look totes grammable', but whilst you're busy getting lost in #influencergoals you're also losing out on everything else around you. We love an Insta' post as much as the next gal on the day bed, but try and spare yourself a few hours a day away from all social media platforms and look up from your phone at the World around you. And then post all your travel pics online when you get back to the hotel ,obvi.
